Nick is a pre-boomer cradle Byzantine Catholic from Detroit. His parents were Byzantine Catholics born in central and eastern Pennsylvania, and his grandparents were immigrants from the Austro-Hungarian empire. He went to public grade and middle school, a Jesuit high school, a Jesuit college for a liberal arts-based engineering undergrad, and later a Felician university for both a Bachelor of Arts in music and a Master of Science in Business Administration. Now retired, his career was as an engineer, supervisor, and manager in many phases of automotive safety testing, and was perennially considered good in development of employees.
Nick began summertime training for catechetics immediately after receiving his undergrad engineering degree, and began teaching the following fall, accumulating fifty three years of experience. He has primarily taught 7th grade, 8th grade, and 12th grade, but also taught other high school grades, 4th grade, and first grade for a short time, and has also been an ECF co-coordinator for the past twenty years. Nick is a Byzantine Catholic cantor and choir director, now for fifty years, still plays violin in a suburban symphony orchestra for almost that long, enjoys folk song and dance, gardening, and has interests in model railroading and trying to keep up to date with local professional sports and management practices.
He, and his wife Marianne raised six children and have fourteen grandchildren.
