One of the many roles of the Office of Religious Education (REAC) is to ensure continuing formation for people of all ages at our parishes and all the people of good will who want to advance in their knowledge about faith and God, make spiritual progress in their lives and come closer to God.
Ultimately the Office of Religious Education acts under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit and cooperates with the eparchial bishop in the exalted task of “building up the Body of Christ” (Eph 4:12).
The eparchial bishop continues the apostolic work of proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Pastors share that responsibility of the bishop within a particular parish. Cantors lead the faithful as they participate in the liturgical life of the parish. Parents seek to foster the growth of their children in all dimensions, including their growth as members of the body of Christ.
The Office of Religious Education assists the bishop, the pastors, the cantors and the parents in carrying out this ministry throughout the whole eparchy.
The Office helps our church to grow in faith and in the Christian life as a model of church unity, preserving and fostering our own integrity while maintaining communion with the Church of Rome.
All Eastern Christian Formation instructors will provide age-appropriate “Safe Environment” instruction. The Office of Religious Education has provided lesson plans based on the God with Us series to assist the catechists. Alternately, instructors can use age-appropriate youth protection videos produced by the Boy Scouts of America. Learn more!
Staff and volunteers may call the Safe Environment Coordinator at 216-741-8773, ext. 228 or 216-469-1425 for further information.
