The Marriage and Family ministry of the Ruthenian Eparchy of Parma, in cooperation with the Tabor Life Institute, is pleased to bring you a Pre-Cana weekend, Saturday & Sunday, May 4th & 5th, 2024 – 12:30pm to 5:00pm. This preparation for marriage according to the Byzantine Rite will take place at St. John’s Byzantine Catholic Church – 36125 Aurora Rd – Solon, OH 44139. The cost of this two day marriage preparation course is $200 per couple. This cost only covers the program fee and meals – accommodations are the responsibility of the couple.
An additional weekend session for the Midwest region will take place in the Fall.
This program presents the mystical "why" behind marriage as designed by Almighty God and communicated by the Church. The "why" of marriage is then applied to the various aspects of marriage from relational insights, the art of communication, the domestic Church, Biblical stewardship and the Byzantine Catholic wedding ceremony itself. The Pre-Cana program hosted by the Ruthenian Eparchy of Parma is also open to couples from all Eastern Catholic Churches.
Program formation covers topics such as:
All couples from Eastern Catholic parishes who will be getting married in the next year or so are encouraged to attend these sessions. Couples who cannot make either of these sessions should contact the Tabor Life Institute office at [email protected] or call 708-645-0762 and we will make special accommodations for them. The Pre-Cana sessions in both the Ohio and Midwest regions are open to all Eastern Catholic couples who are getting married in any of the Eastern Catholic Churches.
Pastors in the Ruthenian Eparchy of Parma who have couples preparing for marriage are required to obtain the Pre-Marriage Inventory (PMI) for each couple to complete, preferably online. The pastor must then discuss the results with the couple after he has received the score of their PMI. Pastors can go to: premaritalinventory.net to obtain the PMI for their couples.
