From September 15 to 22, 2024, Bishop Robert Pipta and 266 other newly appointed bishops from around the world gathered for the “Annual Course of Formation for New Bishops,” also known as New Bishop School or “Baby Bishop School.” Sponsored by the Vatican’s Dicastery for Bishops, this mandatory event for bishops ordained in the previous year fosters global connections, allowing them to spend time with each other, Vatican officials, and the pope.
This year has been a momentous one for the Byzantine-Ruthenian Catholic Church in the United States, as it celebrated two significant milestones. First, it marked the centennial of the establishment of the Byzantine-Ruthenian Church Exarchate in the United States. Second, it commemorated the 50th anniversary of the dedication of the Byzantine-Ruthenian Catholic Chapel at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, DC.
Several thousand Ohioans filled the streets of downtown Columbus on Friday, Oct. 4 to celebrate the third annual Ohio March for Life. In his homily, Bishop Pipta told the congregation that they are rallying and marching for the Gospel of Life and the sake of unborn children. He said they are called to march for every life regardless of age – preborn or post-born.

A final Hierarchical Divine Liturgy was held on October 6 with numbers in attendance that filled the nave of the cathedral and clergy in attendance that filled the sanctuary, Bishop Robert Pipta has now, by decrees, moved our eparchial Cathedral to Holy Spirit Church in Parma which is renamed the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist. The former cathedral is also relegated to profane (non-sacred, but non-sordid) use.
