The Speaker of the House cancelled the House session scheduled for yesterday in which our state representatives would have voted on whether to allow a special election in August. This special election would allow Ohioans to vote to increase the majority from 50% to 60% for changes to the state constitution. This would be a huge obstacle to the abortion ballot initiative’s success in November if they should garner enough signatures by July 5th, but Speaker Stephens has shown that he doesn’t wish to allow this possibility. Raising the majority vote to 60% would more than likely prevent this dangerous ballot initiative from being added to the Ohio constitution since the majority of people are not in favor of abortion in all cases.
Please continue to pray and fast for Speaker Stephens to have a change of heart and bring the measures forward by May 10th for a vote and for these measures to pass.
