CLEVELAND — In an effort to nurture vocations, the Eparchy of Parma began a new program for young men discerning the priesthood. As of Jan. 1, four young men will live in the cathedral rectory and share a life of common prayer and community. They will include David Bratnick, former videographer for Horizons Media, Guillermo Barillas of St. Michael Parish in Flushing, Michigan, and Benjamin Ancocik and David Rinik, both from Slovakia. Barillas, Ancocik and Rinik have been living in the discernment house since the fall. The two Slovak men also took classes at John Carroll University in the fall semester.
Father Marek Visnovsky, vocations director, spoke about the discernment program in an interview with AM 1260 The Rock Nov. 21.
“Every evening they pray Vespers, Bishop Milan (Lach) gives them a reflection on a daily basis, and every morning they do a daily meditation and examination of conscience,” he said. “We are trying to teach them how to deal with the spiritual life.”
