PARMA, Ohio — The Office of Religious Education has launched a new eparchy-wide adult faith formation program, entitled “I BELIEVE – The Nicene Creed: Our Statement of Faith,” in conjunction with this year’s Stewardship Appeal.
Bishop Milan Lach, SJ, of Parma mandated the program to take place in every parish, mission and outreach in the eparchy.
The 13-week program is divided into two parts. The first four lessons will be held before Christmas, during the Philip’s Fast. The next nine lessons will be held during the Great Fast of 2019. (See page 11 for the list of classes.)
It was created to be accessible and easy to fit into everyone’s busy life. Each session will include a 10- to 15-minute videos on a particular theological truth in the Nicene Creed, produced in conjunction with Horizons Media. Priests of the eparchy are the presenters in the videos. The program comes with a workbook that will include conversation starters and questions for group discussions.
The faithful are invited to work with their pastor to assign a time or times when most people of the parish will have the opportunity to participate, and to promote the program to their relatives, friends and neighbors. Suggestions include holding the sessions during a coffee hour after Divine Liturgy on Sundays or during Eastern Christian Formation classes during the week.
Those who would like to contribute to an online discussion group about the week’s topic with people from across the eparchy may log onto Facebook, using the link found on
