INDEPENDENCE, Ohio — Starting Jan. 1, 2020, Horizons will transition from 17 printed issues per year to six issues. In addition to Horizons, the eparchy will continue to communicate with the faithful via its website, social media, digital newsletter, app, and other vehicles.
The move is being taken to reduce administrative expenses and focus on funding ministries, vocations and parishes. It follows similar cost-cutting moves in diocesan newspapers by multiple other dioceses in recent years, including the Ukrainian Catholic Archeparchy of Philadelphia, the Ukrainian Catholic Eparchy of St. Nicholas of Chicago, both Maronite Catholic eparchies in the United States, and numerous Roman Catholic dioceses.
The activities of Horizons Press and Horizons Media, the faith resource publishing and video production branches of Horizons, will be evaluated.
Those who would like to purchase products from Horizons Press and Horizons Media should place their orders and send payment by Jan. 1. The prayer resources, including the Moleben to the Mother of God Searcher for the Lost, the Byzantine Catholic Confession Guide and the St. Ephrem prayer card, are available while supplies last.
Checks should be made payable to “Eparchy of Parma” and mailed to Eparchy of Parma, c/o Horizons, 5000 Rockside Road, Suite 310, Independence, OH 44131. The order form is available on page 10 and can be downloaded from www.parma.org.
