Our Family & Cantor Camp took place July 16-20 at Christ's Peace Center in Easton, KS. Fifteen families, or 84 participants, joined us for a weekend of fellowship, prayer, and spiritual formation in the Byzantine Catholic Tradition. On the Vigil of the Feast of the Prophet Elijah, the families kept an all-night vigil in his honor and together, they prayed and participated in Divine Liturgy. Fr. Andrew Summerson (St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church, Whiting, IN) led the children ages 10-18 in teaching them the beauty of singing in our liturgical tradition! Catherine Baranko from Annunciation of the Mother of God Church, Homer Glen, IL, took care of the children ages 3 to 9. Besides singing and prosphora baking, they also worked on crafts. Fr. Francis Fedorisin and his wife, Pani Marcela, took care of the small children so that the parents could fully participate in their couple's work as part of the marriage enrichment program. Additional thanks to Pani Maria Kasperek (wife of Fr. Milan Kasperek who served at St. Barbara's in Dayton, OH, for 9 months this past year), Vince Eimer, and Marie Baranko for taking such great care of all the families during their stay. They went above and beyond to ensure that our Family and Cantor Camp was a success and were always available to help us with anything we needed.
