by John Popp, Stewardship Appeal Coordinator and Director of Religious Education
I love this time of year. The changing of the seasons from the long hot days of summer to the cool and beautifully colored days of autumn guide my mind to the glory of God at work around us. It’s important to take this beauty in and reflect on the goodness that God has bestowed on us.
One way that we can reflect on God’s goodness is to look at our church. We have so much to be thankful for in our eparchy. The Divine Liturgies prayed all over our 12-state region every week are a tangible expression and part of the beauty that is the Byzantine Catholic Church. God has offered each of us so very much, and as we look forward to our national Thanksgiving holiday, let us turn our thoughts toward what we can offer back to God for his great grace and mercy.
Our Stewardship Appeal is one way for you to offer your gifts back to God. The appeal is now into its first month and off to a great start. Stepping out in faith, we have increased our goal this year to $250,000, which will help cover the many costs associated with ministry in our church. These items include providing health insurance to retired priests, financing the arrival of new priests from Europe as we face a clergy shortage, equipping our family and youth programs with funding, and much more.
I pray that the generosity that has been shown in previous appeals will be prayerfully exhibited once again by all in our eparchy.
I thank God for each of you and your faith. Have a blessed Thanksgiving!
