CHICAGO — The chancery has hired a new full-time finance manager. Matthew McDonald began in his function in mid-December.
McDonald grew up in Fairview Park and Olmsted Falls, Ohio, both on the west side of Cleveland.
He earned an associate degree in graphic design and worked in the field for a few years, before returning to school to earn his bachelor’s degree in business management, with a focus in finance.
McDonald worked at a marketing agency, before serving as an office manager at St. Adalbert Roman Catholic Parish and School in Berea, Ohio, for two years. He then served the same parish as the director of finance and operations.
With McDonald now on board, Nancy Fredrick’s workload, who also works in the finance office, has been reduced from three days to two, and CFO Marty Kopmeyer is in the office about one day a week.
McDonald is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the finance department, including accounting, payroll, financial reporting and analysis, budgeting, vendor management, parish financial reviews, and various special projects as required.
McDonald said he would also like to be accessible to parishes.
“I hope to be the person they can feel comfortable calling when they have a question with accounting, payroll or basically anything business-related,” he said.
McDonald currently lives in Strongsville and calls St. Mary of the Falls Roman Catholic Parish in Olmsted Falls his home parish.
He said he is “excited and honored” to be part of the eparchy and feels blessed to be working with leadership that is “passionate, smart and faith-filled.”
McDonald can be reached at [email protected] or (216) 741-8773, ext. 7.
