PARMA, Ohio — The early bird deadline for the National ByzanTEEN Catholic Youth Rally has been moved to June 1.
“Who is my Neighbor?” is the theme for the rally, July 5-8, at St. Vincent College in Latrobe, Pennsylvania.
Fred Rogers of “Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood” fame was born in Latrobe, hence the philosophy behind the theme. The program will emphasize the Gospel story of the Good Samaritan and include a “Rise Against Hunger” packing event. All four Byzantine Catholic bishops will be present for the Saturday evening liturgy.
Other highlights include the nightly Byzantine Café, sports competition, prayer services, the opportunity for the sacrament of reconciliation, the Saturday night dance, and the chance to mingle with ByzanTEENS from across the country.
All parishes received rally registration forms. The cost is $310. Avoid the $25 late fee by getting registrations in before June 1. The absolute registration deadline is June 16.
A bus will depart from St. Joseph church in Brecksville, Ohio, July 5 at 1 p.m., and return July 8. The bus cost is $50.
Those interested may contact Father Bruce Riebe, director of the Youth Ministry Office: (440) 526-0016. Make check out to “Eparchy of Parma.” It must be received by Father Riebe in order to secure a seat. Info:
