Busy Midwest visit for Bishop Lach

CHICAGO — Bishop Milan Lach, SJ, made a 10-day pastoral visit to Chicagoland, Feb. 16-25. He began at St. Michael Parish in Merrillville, Indiana, Feb. 16-18.
Other highlights included meetings with Bishop Benedict Aleksiychuk of the Ukrainian Catholic Eparchy of St. Nicholas in Chicago and with Bishop Donald Hying of Gary to discuss the pastoral needs of the areas they serve. He visited with retired priests Monsignor Frank Korba and Father Michael Evanick.
He prayed the weekday services at St. Mary Parish in Whiting, Indiana, and celebrated Hierarchical Divine Liturgy at Annunciation Parish in Homer Glen, Illinois, Feb. 25.
He concluded his visit by giving the first-ever Midwest Lenten retreat and pilgrimage, sponsored by the Fellowship of St. Ephrem, Feb. 25. The bishop offered three reflections on the Prayer of St. Ephrem; more than 110 people attended.
