BRECKSVILLE, Ohio — On January 26, 2020, the last Sunday of January and the very first Sunday of the pre-lenten period, Bishop Milan Lach celebrated Divine Liturgy at St. Joseph Byzantine Catholic Church in Brecksville, Ohio. In his homily, Bishop Milan focused on the theme of preparation: as Lent prepares us for Easter, so the pre-lenten period prepares us for Lent. He told those present that preparation is a vital component of the Christian life and he pointed to Zaccheus who was preparing himself to see Christ.
After the Liturgy, Bishop Milan met with the parishioners for a coffee social and talk where he explained the necessity and goal of establishing a Fund for the Support of Clergy Families. A recent shift towards the married clergy in the Eparchy of Parma requires a visionary approach, as there are many challenges for it in the future.
St. Joseph Parish is one of the most vibrant parishes in our eparchy and it is strongly supported by the congregation and led by their pastor Fr. Bruce Riebe, ensuring the growth of Byzantine Catholics in the US.
