The Holy Father appointed Reverend Artur Bubnevych, of the Holy Protection of Mary Byzantine Catholic Eparchy of Phoenix, as the new bishop of the same Eparchy. Reverend Bubnevych, who had been serving as the parish priest of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Albuquerque, New Mexico, was formally enthroned at Annunciation Byzantine Catholic Church in Anaheim, California, on January 28, 2025.
The enthronement was attended by the Papal Nuncio, bishops from both the East and West, representatives from Eastern Europe, priests, and faithful from across the United States. Among the distinguished bishops present were Archbishop William Charles Skurla of Pittsburgh, Bishop Robert Mark Pipta of Parma, and Bishop Kurt Richard Burnette of Passaic. Their presence highlighted the importance of this momentous occasion.
A unique aspect of this event was the inclusion of a special blessing for the youth of the Eparchy, emphasizing the importance of nurturing the next generation in faith. Additionally, the enthronement ceremony featured traditional Byzantine liturgical music, performed by a choir assembled from various parishes, adding a rich cultural and spiritual dimension to the celebration.
Let us join together in praying for Bishop Artur and the Eparchy of Phoenix, asking for God's guidance and blessings as they embark on this new chapter.
