Today’s Gospel passage (Mark 15:43-16:8) presents two powerful examples of faith and courage in the face of uncertainty. Joseph of Arimathea, a respected member of the council, boldly approaches Pilate to request the body of Jesus. Despite the risk, he chooses to honor Christ with a proper burial. His act reminds us that true discipleship often requires stepping forward when others hesitate.
Then, we see the Myrrh-bearing women—Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome—who come to anoint Jesus’ body. They approach the tomb with love and devotion, even though they are unsure how they will roll away the stone. Yet, their faith leads them to a miraculous discovery: the tomb is empty, and Jesus has risen!
Their story teaches us that faith is not about having all the answers—it is about trusting in God’s plan, even when the path ahead seems uncertain. Like Joseph and the women, we are called to act with courage, love, and unwavering trust in the Resurrection.
May we, too, approach life’s challenges with faith, knowing that Christ has conquered death and invites us into His eternal victory.
