On this second pre-lenten Sunday, we delve into the Parable of the Prodigal Son - Luke 15:11-32. Here, Our Lord unveils the profound truth that our heavenly Father extends boundless forgiveness and mercy to us, just as He did to the prodigal son. The story teaches us the importance of recognizing our own faults, abandoning the allure of worldly pleasures, and finding solace in our true home - our father's house. The prodigal son, driven by his awakening, took decisive action: "When he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him," rejoicing that his once-lost son had returned. Similarly, our heavenly Father is ready to unconditionally forgive and embrace us, His prodigal children. However, it is our duty to humbly acknowledge our transgressions, set aside our pride, and make our way back to our rightful abode.
