Sunday After Theophany

In Matthew 4:12-17, we see the beginning of Jesus' ministry in Galilee. After hearing about John the Baptist's imprisonment, Jesus withdraws to Galilee and settles in Capernaum, a town by the sea in the regions of Zebulun and Naphtali. This move fulfills the prophecy of Isaiah, which foretold that a great light would dawn on the people living in darkness in these regions. From this point on, Jesus begins his public ministry, preaching the message, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand."
