BRECKSVILLE, Ohio — Popular Catholic speaker and well-respected philosophy professor Janet Smith will give a daylong seminar on “Humanae Vitae: 50 Years,” in the parish hall of St. Joseph Parish, 8111 Brecksville Road, May 12, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Smith is considered to be an expert on “Humanae Vitae,” the encyclical of Blessed Paul VI on human sexuality, and St. John Paul II’s theology of the body. She taught at the University of Notre Dame, the University of Dallas and Sacred Heart Seminary in Detroit. She authored “Why Humanae Vitae Was Right” and currently holds the Father Michael J. McGivney Chair in Life Issues at the seminary. Smith has also served various Vatican agencies.
