he Paschal season ends on Wednesday, the day before the feast of the Ascension. On this day, called the Leave-taking of Pascha, the Paschal services are celebrated once more as they were on Pascha and during Bright Week, to conclude our celebration of the Lord's Resurrection.
The Feast of the Ascension is a holy day of obligation and commemorates Christ's completion of our salvation and entry into
heaven. It is celebrated on the fortieth day after Easter Sunday, when Jesus ascended to heaven from the Mount of Olives. Our Lord and Savior, even though He ascended into heaven, prepares a place for us and promised to send the Holy Spirit to guide us into our heavenly abode.
