6th Sunday after Pentecost

Word spreads as Jesus returns to Capernaum, a town where He had previously performed miracles. Soon, a paralyzed man is brought to Him by his friends, seeking healing. However, instead of immediately healing the man's physical condition, Jesus surprises everyone by first declaring, "Take heart, son; your sins are forgiven."

This statement sparks controversy among the scribes, who question Jesus' authority to forgive sins, considering it a divine prerogative. To prove His authority, Jesus poses a rhetorical question, asking whether it is easier to say, "Your sins are forgiven," or to say, "Rise and walk." He then commands the paralyzed man to stand up, take his mat, and go home. Miraculously, the man promptly rises and walks, astonishing the crowd.
