28th Sunday after Pentecost

In Luke 17:12-19, we find a remarkable story of Jesus healing ten lepers. Leprosy was a dreaded and highly contagious disease in biblical times, causing physical disfigurement and social isolation. As Jesus entered a village, ten lepers approached Him, standing at a distance as required by law due to their condition. They cried out to Him, pleading for mercy and healing. Jesus, moved by their desperate pleas, instructed them to go and show themselves to the priests, who were responsible for declaring them clean if their leprosy had indeed disappeared.

As the lepers obeyed Jesus' command and began their journey, they were miraculously healed. One of them, a Samaritan, realizing he was cured, returned to Jesus, fell at His feet, and expressed his heartfelt gratitude. Jesus marveled at this man's faith and questioned the absence of the other nine who had also been healed. Jesus declared the Samaritan's faith to have made him well.

This story serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of gratitude and faith. It also highlights the significance of Jesus' healing ministry and His ability to transform lives.
