CHICAGO — Two young adults, who chose a life of discipleship in Christ in the Byzantine Catholic Church, were baptized in the Eparchy of Parma on Holy Saturday.
Both baptisms were held in parishes dedicated to the Mother of God at either extremes of the eparchy.
Father Thomas J. Loya baptized Nandini Kumar, 18, at Annunciation Parish in Homer Glen, Illinois, and Father Marek Visnovsky baptized Brandon Conley, 32, at St. Mary Parish in Cleveland.
The new Christians had more than their youth in common. Both were drawn to Christ by the friendships they made in the parishes.
Kumar and Conley were not alone to enter the Catholic Church March 31. According to the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, about 124,000 people became Catholic on Easter Vigil.
