CLINTON TWP, Michigan — On Sunday, February 2, St Nicholas Parish in Clinton Township honored its youth who are members of the Boy Scouts, the Girl Scouts, and the American Heritage Girls. The Scouts processed in at the beginning of Divine Liturgy as part of a flag ceremony, and then Fr. Repko blessed them and gave a short talk on the positive elements of Scouting in our society. Afterwards, all participating scouts received a patch commemorating the event.
After the Liturgy, the parish hosted its 14th annual “Least of My Brethren” Luncheon to raise funds in order to provide food and other items for the local homeless. This was a “Souper Bowl” event where everyone's a winner! As in past years, parishioners provided a wide variety of homemade soups as well as a salad bar and desserts for attendees to enjoy. Free will donations were collected and used for the poor of the local community, who are serviced through a shelter and food pantry at neighboring Catholic churches, as well as for the parish’s own people in need.
