PARMA, Ohio — The Cathedral of St. John the Baptist will welcome a replica icon of Our Lady of Mariapoch from Hungary June 11.
The icon was commissioned by the advisory board of the Shrine of Our Lady of Mariapoch, Burton, Ohio, and funded by the Catholic Home Missions grant.
Before coming to the United States, the icon was to be touched to the miraculous weeping icon in Mariapocs, Hungary, and blessed by Archbishop Fulop Kocsis of Hajdudorog, Hungary, metropolitan archbishop of the Greek Catholic Church there. The archbishop’s representatives, Fathers Csaba Sivado and Abel Szocska, will travel to Parma to deliver the icon.
The icon will be at the Parma cathedral during the 10 a.m. Divine Liturgy June 11, after which it will be available for veneration. It will be installed at the Burton shrine during the annual eparchial pilgrimage, Aug. 12 -13.
