CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. — The Michigan district of the GCU hosted a banquet this fall to celebrate the GCU’s 125th anniversary.
More than 80 members and officers of District 11, along with their families and guests, gathered for a catered buffet Oct. 22. GCU President George Juba traveled from the home office in Pittsburgh to attend.
Held at St. Nicholas Parish, the event began after the 11 a.m. Divine Liturgy. Longtime District 11 President Gary Mozuras emceed the banquet, which featured a slide presentation by Juba on the history of the GCU, including its humble beginnings.
Some print memorabilia were on display, such as some copies of the now-defunct GCU Messenger newspaper and articles on past District 11 events. Each attendee received a white ceramic mug sporting the new GCU logo and a printed program from the home office.
Subdeacon Phillip Dinsmore gave the invocation prior to the meal, and Subdeacon Lazarus Der-Ghazarian gave the benediction to conclude the banquet.
