The funeral services for Father John Kachuba included two nights of Parastas for a priest, which were celebrated by Bishop Kurt Burnette on Thursday, February 16, and Friday, February 17, and the Funeral Divine Liturgy which was celebrated at 9am on Saturday, February 18, 2023, at St. Mary Magdalene Church in Fairview Park, Ohio, Father John’s last pastoral assignment.
The Funeral Divine Liturgy was presided over by Metropolitan Archbishop William Skurla, celebrated by Bishop Kurt Burnette, and concelebrated by five priests with fifteen additional priests in attendance as well as five deacons and several nuns. The Very Rev. Archpriest David Petras, a dear friend of Father John and retired priest of the Eparchy of Parma, preached the homily. The parish hosted a luncheon after the Divine Liturgy for all of the clergy and faithful in attendance. Father John was buried at St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Cemetery in Windber, Pennsylvania, on Monday, February 20, 2023.
