In this week of brightness we are reminded that the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ means that darkness, sin, and death never have the final word in our lives. We commend the soul of the departed servant of God, our Holy Father Francis, to the loving arms of our God and Savior.
As I was appointed to my episcopal ministry in the Eparchy of Parma by Pope Francis and as I had an opportunity to meet him in person when attending the courses for new bishops in Rome this past September, I recommit myself to my work of shepherding with all the joy and hope represented by his pontificate.
Remembering the ministerial spontaneity that Pope Francis exemplified and encouraged, let us be motivated as an eparchial Church to grow in increasing unity with our spiritual leaders and their unique gifts, that we may grow even stronger in missionary discipleship and godly fellowship.
During this Bright Week we pray: May Christ our true God, risen from the dead, by death trampling Death and granting life to those in the tombs, place the soul of his departed servant in the abode of the just and number him among the just, and have mercy on us and save us through the prayers of his most pure Mother and through the prayers of all the saints; for Christ is good and loves us all. Christ is Risen!
