Altar servers gather for retreat

HOMER GLEN, Ill. — Deacon Timothy Tkach of Annunciation Parish called the parish’s altar servers together for a “tune-up” retreat this winter. The deacon began by reviewing the magnitude and significance of their service and the appropriate spiritual posture for such service.
 
He reviewed the discipline of properly caring for vestments and instructed them on various finer points, such as, “Do not pick at the wax on your processional candles.”     
 
The boys made up for any of their loose discipline by cleaning the wax off of the marble sanctuary floor and neatly rearranging the vestment closets. The retreat ended with the boys serving at Saturday evening Vespers.
